At the very least, Brendyn Stager is probably breathing a little easier these days.
“It’s really crazy to think where this was a year ago,” he says.
Where he was then was at the beginning of a rather large undertaking - renovation of the Blossburg municipal building.
The building had been empty since 2001 when the borough offices moved up the street. There was some interest off and on over the next five years in “doing something” with the building - making it into a coal museum or a microbrewery/restaurant were two ideas - but nothing materialized. The building sat vacant, and off the tax rolls. Borough officials began making plans to demolish it, but decided to try to sell it first.
Stager bought it with a sealed bid of $1,111.11 in February of 2006.
Now what?
“I was looking at buying a house,” says the 1999 North Penn graduate. “I wanted to get something to live in and rent (part of it).”
