The 53rd Annual Morris Rattlesnake Hunt is this weekend, June 14 and 15, in Morris.

The flea market and concession stands open at 10 a.m. on both days. On Saturday, there will be a chicken barbecue in late morning, the Kiddie Snake Hunt at noon, and fireworks at dusk.

The Kiddie Snake Hunt, under the direction of Melanie Herb, provides youth of all ages with something fun to do at the Morris Rattlesnake Hunt. Herb said, "All the youngster has to do is select one of the color-coded rubber snakes. Each snake has a corresponding prize and he or she will be given that prize. The kids win every time. Among the prizes we have this year are a bicycle and a non-motorized scooter. We will start at noon and stay open as long as the kids are interested or until we run out of prizes, whichever comes first."

The annual one-pitch softball tournament gets underway at 7 a.m. at the ball field both Saturday and Sunday. This year, 20 teams are playing.
