On Tuesday, Sept. 16, students at Wellsboro Area High School had the opportunity to participate in a rock climbing challenge, as the area's U.S. Army recruiters made a 24-foot portable obstacle available for the entire day at the Wellsboro High School.
Staff Sgt. Nathan Good, Sgt. Thomas Baysore and Specialist Terilyn Anderson coordinated the day-long challenge with Wellsboro High School's physical education teacher, Mike Pietropola, to show students the educational and adventure side of the U.S. Army.
With parental permission, students 16 years of age and older could experience rock climbing in the school's parking lot any time throughout the day. Several faculty members also gave the wall a try.
The U.S. Army makes the opportunity available for special events throughout the community and school districts, etc. The weather is a big factor, as temperatures need to be atleast 50 degrees Fahrenheit, and typically before the month of October.
