An experiment gone awry—

To the editor:

In light of King Hamlet’s effort to preside over what I suspect historians will deem the most corrupt and tyrannical government in the history of our nation, we would do well to contemplate the wisdom expressed in the following Thomas Jefferson quotes:

“When governments fear people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.” I suspect that the “tea parties” are a reasonable indication that the people fear the federal government as well as the 30 state governments that have officially expressed their state’s rights.

“The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all.” While the mainstream media “tea party” reporting told viewers that these were misguided protests paid for by the Republican National Committee the real facts don’t support that. These protests were truly grassroots independent entities representing all political parties as well as unregistered voters. We the people need to ensure that we vote in the 2010 election and give the boot to the tyrannical leadership in Congress.

“The opinion which gives to the judges the right to decide what laws are constitutional and what not, not only for themselves in their own sphere of action, but for the legislative and executive also in their spheres, would make the judiciary a despotic branch.” Supreme Court appointments need to be scrutinized very carefully and the people need to hold senators accountable for their votes. The Constitution is clear and there is no place for either empathy or judicial activism when interpreting the Constitution as it regards our laws. Judicial activism is how we wound up with the Roe v. Wade decision where freedom of choice (liberty) was deemed a more sacred right than the right to life. During the campaign, the boy who would be king told the Rev. Rick Warren in front of millions of Americans that the scientific and theological arguments for when life begins are above his pay grade. If you believe that to be true, King Hamlet, why did you sign executive orders depriving the unborn children their right to life?

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government… such laws serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.“ (‘Commonplace Book’ 1775) I am encouraged to see that Montana citing the IX, X and II Amendments to the Constitution has passed legislation to prevent the federal government from infringing upon the citizens of Montana’s gun rights. Texas and Utah are also working on similar legislation. The important issue here is that there is an active nationwide movement that puts the federal government on notice that we the people will not allow the administration and Congress to usurp powers that haven’t been granted by the people.

For the liberal loons who continue to participate in the slobbering love affair advocated by the mainstream media, I’m sure that “Bush Derangement Syndrome” will always prevent them from letting the facts get in the way of their entitlement fantasies. Regardless, it is refreshing to see the ground swell of opposition to the “Community Organizer’s” efforts to trash our Constitution by taking away our right to life, liberty and property. I encourage concerned citizens to stay abreast of the issues surrounding the following Constitutional Amendments I, II, V, IX and X. The arguments opposing the tyranny in Washington focus on taking back the wrongly usurp powers of the federal government. It will be interesting to see what comes of the rhetoric to hold a Constitutional convention for the sole purpose of repealing the XVI Amendment. I can think of no better way to control government spending then to repeal the federal government’s authority to tax personal income.

Europe has a 10-year head start on the social experiment initiated by the leadership in Washington and we need only look there to see how badly this will all turn out. Margaret Thatcher was very insightful when she stated: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”
