Remembering history—
To the editor:
Spanish born American philosopher and poet George Santayana provided wise counsel when he stated “Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Administrations prior to President Bush held that the best way to deal with terror was to ignore fascist Islam’s declaration of war on the United States, Israel and its Western allies and treat terrorist attacks as police and judicial matters. It was exactly this policy of denial that emboldened Islamic terrorists and provided the necessary environment for them to successfully complete their World Trade Center mission.
One of President Obama’s first official acts was to issue an Executive Order to close GITMO. In conjunction with that declaration, he also decided that there was no longer a war on terror and that his policy for dealing with “man-caused disasters” would be the failed police and judicial policies of the past.
Fast forward 10 months. With Obama in Asia, Attorney General Holder announced that Khalid Sheikh Muhammed and four other 9/11 co-conspirators will be given legal rights under the U.S. Constitution and tried in a federal court in New York. This is in spite of the fact that KSM is a prisoner of war captured on the battlefields of Afghanistan. To the point, prisoners of war have no rights under the U.S. Constitution. In fact, prisoners of war under the Geneva Conventions can be interned by their captors until the end of hostilities after which they can be tried or repatriated. Therein lies the rub! Although fascist Islam is still fighting their declared war, the Obama administration has decided that we no longer are engaged in a war on terror.
Under Obama’s no terror war policies, fanatical Islam has successfully completed two jihads within the United States. On June 3, 2009, Pvt. William Long was gunned down outside an Army recruiting station in Arkansas. The lone gunman, an African-American Muslim convert named Abdulhakim Muhammed, 23, formerly known as Carlos Bledsoe, traveled to Yemen before completing his jihad. Bledsoe pleaded not guilty to his heinous attack after being charged with one count of capital murder and 15 counts of terrorism.
The fatal Bledsoe jihad in Arkansas was followed by the Ft. Hood attack where another Islamic fanatic upped the body count to now 14 U.S. soldiers and civilians. The facts are clear. Ft. Hood was another successful jihad; although, the feds, the Army, the president and fawning media apologetics are moving at warp speed to spin it away from the obvious – Islamic fascism at its worst.
Combine the failures of homeland security with the unconscionable deconstruction of our Constitution, skyrocketing unemployment and attempts to take away our freedoms in the name of energy and health care reform and it’s no wonder that a majority of American’s now realize that “The One” and his radical Marxist cronies are racing against the clock to destroy this great nation! I encourage everyone to conscientiously study the truths of the issues, register to vote and then vote in November 2010. We need to stop the madness of repeating failed history as evidenced by the disastrous events occurring both here and abroad!
