Hills Creek State Park at 111 Spillway Road, Wellsboro, is offering free programs Aug. 18. The park is seven miles northeast of Wellsboro in Charleston Township via Charleston Street and Hills Creek Lake Road.
A free Canoe Tour will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18. Participants will explore the wildlife of Hills Creek Lake and learn about the lake’s history and management in a relaxed family setting. All equipment is provided, including canoes, paddles and personal flotation devices. Preregistration is required. Preregister in person at the park office or by calling 570-724-4246.
At 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, learn practical ways to deal with nuisance gray squirrels during Squirrel Wars, a free one-hour program being presented in the park’s Nature Center area in the campground between B and C Loop. Video and mounts will highlight this presentation. Preregistration is not required to attend Squirrel Wars.
