Doctor, clown, communist.  The words may not traditionally fit together, but Dr. Patch Adams insists he is all of those things and more.

He spoke to students, faculty, staff and the community at Mansfield University on Friday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. in Straughn Hall.

Wearing handmade clothing patterned with colorful flowers, he spoke about his early life, his work and the famous movie based on his life, but he also gave the audience some advice.

“If you don’t like the consequence, change the performance,” he said.
