The winner of the Blockhouse Festival Committee quilt raffle, is Debbie Worthington (left) of Liberty. Assisting her in holding the queen-sized Lone Star quilt is Susie Brion, a member of the Liberty Fall Fest and 10-Mile Yard Sale Committee and Blockhouse Festival Committee secretary. The drawing to pick the winner of the quilt was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, the day of the event. “Even though it was rainy, Fall Fest and the Yard Sale were a success,” said Brion. “Most everyone did quite well. She added, “The biggest complaint I heard was that the food sold out early. By 10:30 a.m., we had sold all of our 300 Mr. Sticky’s homemade cinnamon rolls. We also sold all of the 375 barbecued chicken halves and dinners we had.” All proceeds from the Blockhouse Festival Committee’s chicken barbecue, Mr. Sticky’s sale and quilt raffle will benefit the SSG Ryan Ostrom Memorial Foundation. Brion said, “Our goal was to donate $2,000 to the Foundation and I believe we have accomplished that.”
