The Black Forest Falcons Youth Trap Team recently sent 17 shooters to the 2020 PA Scholastic Clay Target Program championships in Elysburg.
In their first year shooting against 220 clay-busters from around the state, the Falcons brought home two team awards and one individual award
First Place JV Squad
Jake Cochran, Hunter Crowell, Nick McCarthy, Drew Page and Chris Davis.
Second Place Open Squad
Brady Streich, Logan Ruter, Otto Deutschlander, Mathew Fleniken and Owen Deutschlander.
Top Shooter Intermediate Entry Level
Competition was tough at the PA State Shotgunning Association’s home grounds in Elysburg. The remaining Falcons AJ Torrey, Ben Torrey, Kylie Welsh, Sophia Snowman, LT Myers, Kaylea Empson and Carter Thompson all shot above their averages.
The Black Forest Falcons will be moving on to SCTP Nationals scheduled for 17 and 18 July at the Cardinal Center in Marengo, Ohio. Currently, there are over 1,800 shooters registered for this event.
The Black Forest Falcons Youth Trap Team consists of 12-18 year-old students from the Austin, Coudersport, Galeton, and Northern Potter school districts.
As a club sport, the Falcons are primarily funded by in-house fundraising and community donations. The club would like to thank all of its sponsors for their continued sport. Head coach, Loren Fitzgerald, thanked the Black Forest Conservation Association for hosting the club as well as all the volunteer coaches who keep the team safe and moving forward. Volunteer coaches include Joe McClellan, Terry Gerner, Terry Gerhart, Stephanie Gerhart, Kevin Siska, Ryan Gaberseck, Josh Torrey, Miles Fleniken, Ron Burdick, Brad Empson, Rick Parsons, Emily Kellogg, Sean Batterson, Stephanie Deutschlander, Harry Deutschlander and Sharon Fitzgerald.
