Nine Galeton High School students have been awarded scholarships from the William and L.R. Gale Community Foundation a/k/a Galeton Foundation. The 2020 scholarships totaled $99,000.00 with each student being awarded $1,500 per semester. This year’s recipients are:

  • Jessica Evans, daughter of Chuck and Deb Evans, plans to attend Penn State University majoring in biomedical engineering.
  • Hunter Hoover, son of Nathanial and Michelle Reeve, plans to attend La Roche University majoring in interior design.
  • Katherine Kulish, daughter of Kevin and Elizabeth Kulish, plans to attend Mansfield University majoring in early childhood/special education.
  • Andrew Macensky, Jr., son of Andrew and Kelly Macensky, plans to attend West Chester University of Pennsylvania majoring in chemistry-biology-pre-med.
  • Nickolas McCarthy, son of Shawn and Veronica McCarthy, plans to attend Southeast Lineman Training Center to become a lineman.
  • Jordan Moore-Rice, grandson of Carrie Brown, plans to attend Mansfield University majoring in biology/pre-med.
  • Tiffany Nosiay, daughter of Robert Nosiay and Robin Weiss plans to attend St. Bonaventure University majoring in neuroscience.
  • Cara Parsell, daughter of Doug and Marlene Parsell, plans to attend Lycoming College majoring in biology/pre-med.
  • Madison Sauley, daughter of Michel Sauley and Shannon Kurtz, plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford majoring in pre-radiological science.

The scholarship program began in 2013 for current high school seniors attending Galeton Area High School who have been accepted to an accredited college, university or trade school. The scholarship awards may be used to help pay for tuition, books and room and board charges and are paid directly to the college, university or trade school. The Galeton Foundation also awards grants to 501c3 organizations within the borough of Galeton and its environs.
