The Elkland Area Senior Citizens Club met on Thursday, Sept. 5 at the Elkland Fire Hall. Club President Dick Vargeson welcomed everyone.
Raymond Doan opened with a prayer, followed by Vargeson leading the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Forty-two members enjoyed meat loaf prepared by the Osceola Big M, and the many side dishes and desserts brought in by members. Vargeson showed and narrated slides of his and Jennie’s trip through the Rockies to California and the Giant Redwoods and Yosemite National Park.
It looked like a very interesting trip and made many of us want to schedule one just like that.
Richard Potter brought in a jar of can tabs which he had already counted. Members were asked to write their guess on the back of a raffle ticket. When the tickets were read, the closest number was guessed by Monroe Graves and his dues for 2020 will be marked paid.
Birthdays for the month were Marilyn Doan, Collis Blend, Loretta Schoonover and Barbara Ball.
Anniversaries were Dick and Jennie Vargeson and Robert and Mary Bacon.
The club drawings were won by Edna LeVan (door prize), Roberta Hackett (Osceola Big M Gift Card), Jim Marold (50/50).
Our next meeting will be at noon on Thursday, Oct. 3 in the Elkland Fire Hall and we welcome visitors.
