Yeah! Run, Run, Run! Go, Go, Go! Hurry, Hurry, Hurrah! On Thursday, Sept. 19, the kickoff assembly was filled with hundreds of cheering students as they rooted on their fellow students to win the Dinosaur Egg Race and Feed the Dinosaur Contest. What a rousing start to our Family Reading Night program at Clark Wood Elementary School. This month the theme is “Read at Jurassic Clark” which goes along with our AR theme of Welcome to Jurassic Clark. We are really into dinosaurs this year. Judge James Edgcomb, aka T-Rex, was the guest reader that evening. All the students, parents, and staff really love having him be the guest reader. He shared “Dinosaurs from Head to Tail” by Stacey Roderick. All the students enjoyed the various activities, games, and crafts as well as the delicious snacks that fit right into the dinosaur theme for the evening. Each student receives a free book for attending the program, and there is a drawing at the end of the night for some amazing books for students in each grade level. There are also some lucky parent winners each night.
The Family Reading Night team is enthusiastically looking forward to another great year. They appreciate all the family and community support that they receive each month. This is the twenty-first year of the reading program at Clark Wood Elementary. Dates for the upcoming year are Oct. 24, Nov. 21, Dec. 12, Jan. 16, Feb. 20, March 19, and April 9. We hope you are able to attend. Mark October 24 on your calendar and join us as we “Harvest Delicious Books.”
