Male Athlete of the Week
During the Galeton Tigers big win against North Penn-Liberty, Joseph Brumbach led the charge in a comeback for the Tigers in a 4-3 victory.
Brumbach was able to rack up two second half goals to help close the gap, and eventually take over the lead in an important matchup.
Brumbach has been one of the top options on the Tigers offense all season long, with 13 goals and two assists on the season. He is second on his team in goals so far, and has scored six of his 13 goals on the season in just the last four games including a three-goal game against Northerm Pottter.
Galeton will need to continue to rely on his offensive output and continued growth this season as the Tigers are going into a district matchup against top seeded Millville team that will be the toughest challenge of the year for this Galeton squad.
His strong play against Liberty in an important comeback and his strong offensive showing over the last stretch of the season is why Brumbach is this week’s Male Athlete of the Week.
Female Athlete of the Week
Williamson girls soccer
Abby Ackley for the Williamson Warriors girls soccer team has been a defensive staple all season. Her continued improvement as the season has transpired has been aparent as the Warriors battled back from 1-7-1 record to push their record to 8-8-1 to close out their regular season.
Ackley is not only a first year goalkeeper but a first year soccer player as well. Helping to lead a defense that struggled last season, she has been an anchor on the back-end for the Warriors all season long.
Her work-ethic and commitment to the game has given her a large margin of improvement as the season has progressed, and over the last four games of the year she stepped up in a major way, only allowing four goals in that span.
They will need Ackley to keep up her hot-streak in the goal as they will need her defensive prowess if they plan on taking home a victory in districts.
Her continued improvement throughout the season is a key component to the turnaround the Warriors made this season, achieving a district playoff appearance is why she is being named this week’s Female Athlete of the week.
