The Port Allegany volleyball team split a pair of North Tier League matches last week, dropping a 21-25, 25-19, 25-11, 25-18 decision to one of the league leaders, Cameron County, on Oct. 1, then rebounding with a 25-19, 25-21, 25-20 sweep at Austin on Oct. 3.

On Tuesday, Maleah Daniels recorded six kills and 16 digs for the Gators, who also got six kills, 13 digs and three blocks from Kalyn Naylor and four kills, 17 digs and three blocks from Jade Evens against the Red Raiders.

Against Austin, Daniels pounded nine kills and five aces along with seven digs, while Naylor dealt seven aces, 10 digs and four kills and Shannon Curfman chipped in with eight kills.

The young Gators (4-8, 4-6 NTL) have a busy schedule on tap for this week, hosting Otto-Eldred on Monday, traveling to Smethport on Wednesday, and welcoming Coudersport on Thursday in league action before heading to the Kane Tournament on Saturday morning.
