GALETON — Hundreds of people turned out for Galeton’s annual Independence Day celebration.

Kicking off Friday, July 5, with live music, vendors and concessions, the Red Suspender Weekend drew people for what is advertised as the “Best Fireworks Display” in the area.

Saturday kicked off with an hour-long parade through the borough, followed by performances of the Caleadonian Bagpipe Highlanders and Downbeat Percussion, the official drum corps for the Buffalo Bills. Music continued through the afternoon.

While temperatures hovered around 90 degrees with nearly 100% humidity, people began setting up chairs along the shores of Berger Lake, the sidewalks along Route 6 and throughout Collins Park in preparation for the fireworks display that evening.
