Galeton enjoyed a very nice August. The month started out warm and nice. We had many sunny summer like days with cool nights and mornings and warm afternoons with generally low humidity. Several mornings we had readings in the mid-40s. We had 21 foggy mornings, five thunderstorms and two brief damaging wind events with some trees blown down in town.
We had a month of low rainfall until Aug. 28. Pine Creek is lower now than it has been this summer but, of course Pine Creek is nice as always.
Normal rainfall for August is 4.15 inches. This year we received 3.09 inches and last year 3.74 inches. The average high temperature for August is 79 degrees and the average low is 57 degrees.
Labor Day weekend was rainy with thunderstorms. Hopefully you got out and enjoy a picnic.
