NELSON TOWNSHIP — Supervisors here agreed to loan $3,000 to the Nelson Township Authority during the Jan. 13 regular monthly meeting. The loan is to be used for taking legal action against an overdue customer of the water system.
Nelson supervisors discussed the wash out along State Route 49 in the township. The wash out on the north side of the highway is putting a gray water line of the Nelson Township Authority in danger of damage. The matter has been discussed by the township roadmaster, Alan Arnold, and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Supervisors received a letter from the Department of Environmental Protection reporting that neighboring community, Elkland borough, was in hydrologic overload at the borough’s sewer treatment facility.
The board named supervisor Jason Tubbs as primary to the Tioga County Tax Collection Committee. Supervisor Dave Fritz will serve as first alternate with Alan Arnold, the third supervisor, as second alternate.
The board members took action to pay the annual dues for the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors. They will also purchase three copies of the Township News.
Supervisors responded to a request for land use permit. The board approved the additions of an AT&T telecommunication company antennae on an existing communication tower off the Barney Hill Road in the township.
The board of supervisors took action to purchase cameras for placement in the township and the necessary signs to notify the public of that camera placement.
Nelson Township supervisors will next meet at 6 p.m. Feb. 10.
