Tioga Publishing is pleased to announce that it picked up five wins in the 2019 Keystone Press Awards competition.
Staff received several honors in the competition for content produced in 2018.
- Joshua Magnotta with a second place win in Sports/Outdoor Column for “Green Monster Challenge tests competitors.” He is the sports reporter for the Wellsboro/Mansfield Gazette and Free Press-Courier. This is his first win and his first time entering the competition.
- Lori Chase with two first place wins in Sports Event Coverage and Sports Beat Reporting. In the first category, she won for her article, “Port boys soccer wins league title. The other category followed the Port Allegany Gator wrestling time on its journey to state competition. She is a correspondent who writes sports articles for The Reporter Argus in McKean County.
- Rachel Heitzenrater with an honorable mention in Photo Story/Essay for her photo, “Just One More,” and also another honorable mention in Page Design for the editorial/opinion pages in the Free Press-Courier. She is the assistant editor for the Free Press-Courier and also a general news reporter/page designer for the other publications.
The Gazette competes in Category VI, non-daily newspapers with a circulation between 5,000-9,999; the Free Press and Reporter Argus are in Category VII, non-daily newspapers with a circulation less than 5,000.
Award recipients were honored at the Keystone Press Awards banquet during the Pennsylvania Press Conference in Harrisburg.
