Osceola Township supervisors agreed to purchase a new dump truck for the community from Sherwood Trucks in Tunkhannock.

The action was taken at the monthly meeting Jan. 9. It is expected that the truck could be delivered as early as next month and will cost $138,000. The funds are budgeted. The truck is a single axle Freightliner M20 with an automatic transmission, spreader and plow.

Supervisors agreed to retain the law firm of Loomis and Koernig for township business. The retainer of $750 will be paid and other fees will be charged for services as rendered.

To encourage residents to plan for projects that require digging, the supervisors declared April as Pennsylvania Safe Digging Month. Those with projects should call 811 three days prior to the planned project. Planting trees and installing mailboxes are on the list of projects that could be of concern.

The next meeting of the Osceola Township Supervisors will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 13.
