The Galeton Lady Tigers win streak came to an end against North Penn Liberty last Tuesday. Galeton were the winners of four straight games between April 25 and May 6.
In the 13-4 loss, Galeton’s offense was stymied by North Penn-Liberty’s Savannah Doney who struck out 15 batters. Doney has been on a tear of late recording multiple 10-plus strikeout games and recently breaking the 500 career strikeout mark.
Despite facing the most dominant pitcher in the league the Tigers did make contact and put four runs on the board. After three scoreless innings Galeton put two runs across the plate in the fourth and added two more runs in the seventh for their four total against Doney.
Haylee Ludington and Madison Sauley were responsible for the Lady Tigers two hits while Brielle Kalacinski earned two RBIs on an 0-for-3 night at the plate.
On the road against Montgomery the next night, Galeton again fell behind early giving up eight runs through the first three innings. The Lady Tigers would put a run across the plate in the fifth but failed to score against and fell 8-1 to the Red Raiders.
Galeton returned home for a scheduled three game stretch this week with Cameron County, Bucktail, and Port Allegany. Scores from these games will be in next week’s Free Press.
