Fuller strikes out five in win

Regan Fuller allowed just four hits and struck out five against Otto-Eldred Thursday for the Lady Tigers sixth win of the season.

After an 18-5 loss to Coudersport at home Wednesday, April 24, the Galeton softball team bounced back with a 3-2 win over Otto-Eldred.

The Lady Tigers entered the matchup with Coudersport after a thrilling 3-1 extra-inning win over North Penn-Liberty.

Against the Lady Falcons, Galeton scored two runs in the first to lead the game early.

Coudersport didn’t trail for long though, as the Lady Falcons put up six runs in the second inning to take a four-run lead. Coudersport would not relinquish their control for the remainder of the game.

In the third, the Lady Falcons added seven runs to their lead to make the score 13-2. Galeton responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning but still trailed by ten.

Coudersport continued their dominance at the plate in the fourth with another five runs. The Lady Tigers put one run across the plate in the fourth.

In their final at bat the Lady Tigers trailed 18-4 but managed just one run to conclude the evening with an 18-5 loss.

Brielle Kalacinski led Galeton with two hits in the loss.

Shaelyn Black, Rosalyn Page and Emma Saulter combined for nine hits and 12 RBIs for Coudersport.

Thursday, on the road against Otto Eldred, the Galeton girls fared better.

Once again, the Lady Tigers jumped out to an early lead, this time putting three runs on the scoreboard in the top half of the first when Madison Sauley hit a three-run home run.

After taking the lead, Galeton didn’t score again in the remaining six innings. Regan Fuller and the Galeton defense held Otto-Eldred scoreless through the first six innings.

The Lady Terrors’ only runs came in the seventh. Galeton was able to handle Otto-Eldred’s comeback attempt and earn the victory 3-2.

Fuller had a strong outing from the mound allowing just four hits and striking out five.

At the plate, Sauley’s three-run blast carried the Lady Tigers to victory.

Katelyn Pagano also had a good night at the plate going 2-for-4 and scoring once.

Fuller, Makayla Schott and Eva Olofson each had a hit in the win.

Galeton faced Port Allegany at home on Monday, April 29. After Monday’s matchup Galeton will then travel to Port Allegany for a second consecutive game against the Lady Gators. The scores from these games will be in next week’s paper.
