After a successful season coming up with 11 wins, the Galeton Tigers volleyball team was unable to beat the competitive Northeast Bradford Panthers team in their first round district playoff match. The Tigers were swept 3-0 against the second seeded Panthers by scores of 25-11, 25-16 and 25-16.
Galeton struggled to score against a strong Panthers front line, but still put up a formidable fight against a good team.
Alli Macensky capped off her impressive freshman season with another strong statline of ten kills, five blocks and one assist in the contest. Macensky has been the go to player all season for the Tigers, posting an absurd 173 kills in just her freshman season to go along with 63 total blocks throughout the course of 62 sets this season. Another strong performer in this contest was junior Alexis Johnson, who was able to record four kills, one ace, one block and one dig.
Another player who had a spectacular showing in their final outing was Makenna Shuemaker who led the Tigers with 19 digs in the contest to go along with two assists in the contest.
Despite coming up short in districts, the Tigers have a strong, young core that will help them to be competitive for next season.
The Tigers will lose five seniors, but also have had major contributions from nearly all of the younger players on the roster. They will look to continue to build on those young players next season and improve moving forward.
