The 64th annual Tioga Old Home Day will run from Thursday, Aug. 14 through Sunday, Aug. 18.

Old Home Day was originated by the late Francis Murphy, who ran the Tioga Roller Skating Rink for many years.

Every year, Murphy would bring out his homemade carousel for the young children to enjoy during the festival.

Event organizer Valerie Stickler said they will have the carousel out in memory of Murphy, but it will not be functional.

“Francis will always be part of Tioga Old Home Day. He really kept it going, some years almost single-handedly. That is why he is on our posters, and we miss him,” Stickler said.

Old Home Day is looking for parade participants.

“We would love to have them, and they can contact me or attend a meeting, or look at the group’s Facebook page,” she said.

Because of donations from Gee Processing and Tioga Ranch Trucking, Old Home Days will have five inflatables, she said.

“There will be something for all ages, including obstacle course, a slide, plus bounce houses for the younger kids,” she said.

There is no admission fee; families can purchase a $5 wrist band Friday and Saturday nights for the inflatables, she added.

Stickler said the event helps all the local non-profits.

Grounds open at 6 p.m. every night with vendors and inflatables, including food, games and demonstrations.
