Hail was reported during a Friday afternoon shower. One KC101 listener told the station that her car windshield was cracked by a chunck of hail that day! The radio station sent these photos to the National Weather Service in State College. They are saying these are some of the biggest pieces of hail they have ever seen in Pennsylvania. HRI Construction Inc., Williamsport, had cut ditches about a foot deep and three feet long across the width of the eastbound lane. The man reportedly rode into the closed eastbound lane and hit one of the ditches, bending the front wheel on his bike and injuring his head and neck. An HRI worker called 911 just after 9 a.m. and the Wellsboro Firemen’s Ambulance and Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital’s Medic 1 responded immediately. Al Evans, HRI supervisor, said the ditches and closed lane were part of a resurfacing project scheduled to end Sept. 9. “Bicyclers are to abide by the traffic pattern,” Evans said. “He was riding in our dead lane.” Evans asked the state police to investigate the incident.Truck-Lite signs $3.5 million defense contractTruck-Lite Co.
