PennDOT announced that motorists traveling Route 15 southbound south of Blossburg in Tioga County are advised to be alert for a lane closure on the Johnson Creek Bridge for cleanup operations following a truck crash last night.
The southbound lane closure is expected to be lifted by this early evening.
The northbound and southbound lanes of Route 15 are currently delayed just south of Blossburg while emergency responders clear the debris from a flatbed tractor trailer which broke into pieces and plunged between the lanes to the ground below shortly before 8:30 p.m.
The reason for the crash is still being investigated by Pa. State Police.
Blossburg Fire Chief Shawn Carey said the driver was taken via ambulance to Williamsport Hospital with life-threatening injuries and the truck was carrying rolls of what appeared to be sheet metal.
Debris on the road included a small mattress and two separated axles with damaged tires. The tractor and trailer landed several dozen feet below the road and were extremely damaged.
