State Representative Mike Turzai for the 28th District, is pushing hard for House Bill 2350, which would privatize the wine and spirits wholesale and retail operations of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB).

“We need to move Pennsylvania into the 21st century,” Turzai said. “Privatization will result in lower prices, more convenience and better selection.”

Turzai also said that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania should not be in the business of selling alcohol which creates a conflict of interest. Should the entity promoting sales of wine and spirits be the same entity that polices those sales, he asked.

“It is a gargantuan monopoly and it is one of only two states in the entire union that have an entire monopoly. It doesn’t respond to consumers. Prices are arbitrarily high,” Turzai said.

Bad selection, bad prices, high-paid "clerks" who don't have a clue... " that box wine is pretty good".If Pennsylvania gets rid of this albatross, I might vote Republican!

Care to explain how other non-control states have better DWi fatality rates, less binge drinking and lower underage drinking then PA does with all the supposed "control"? The PLCB only benefits the PLCB workers and the Union that represents them, not the people of PA.

Sure let's let teenagers get booze at the neighborhood grocery so they can kill themselves and others on the road.
