Several individuals faced action in Tioga County Court April 12. President Judge Robert E. Dalton Jr. was presiding.

William A. Merrick Jr., 25, of Covington, was sentenced to 9 to 23 months in county prison, fined $150, and ordered to continue treatment. He previously pleaded guilty to a count of statutory sexual assault. He had sexual relations with a teenage girl on several occasions between May, 2001 and March, 2003.

Allen Lee Shelman, 36, of Tioga RR 4, pleaded guilty to a count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and two counts of corruption of minors. Sentencing will be scheduled. He was accused of having sex with a 12-year-old girl between the summer of 2002 and May, 2003.

Clarence J. Kirk, 44, of Addison, N.Y., pleaded guilty to a count of theft by deception. Sentencing will be scheduled. He is accused of charging an Osceola homeowner $7,600 for roofing work that was never completed.

Neil S. Fischer, 25, of Williamsport, pleaded guilty to one count each of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and criminal conspiracy. Sentencing will be scheduled. He was involved in an ecstacy distribution ring that operated in Mansfield in 2000. Former Attorney General Mike Fisher was in Tioga County last year to announce the arrests.

Cory J. Mader, 21, of Mainesburg, pleaded guilty to a count of accident involving serious injury while not licensed and summary counts of driving without a license and reckless driving. Sentencing will be scheduled. He was involved in an accident Oct. 31 near Shortsville which injured him and another person.

Diane Francis Brent, 49, of Buffalo, N.Y., pleaded guilty to a count of making false reports to authorities. Sentencing will be scheduled. During a May 6, 1999 traffic stop in Westfield, she used her daughter's name and birth date as her license had been suspended in Pennsylvania.

Evan Kohberger, 20, of Horseheads, N.Y., was accepted for the accelerated rehabilitative disposition (ARD) program. He was placed on probation for 12 months and his license was suspended for 6 months. He was charged with driving under the influence following a crash in Elkland Dec. 17.

Stephen C. Yeager, 58, of Arnot, was accepted for ARD. He was placed on probation for 9 months and his license was suspended for 3 months. He was charged with DUI Oct. 26 in Wellsboro.

Tim Allen, 24, of 307 Davis Street, Wellsboro, was accepted for ARD. He was placed on probation for 9 months and his license was suspended for 3 months. He was charged with DUI Dec. 24 in Wellsboro.

Erich J. West, 23, of Wellsboro RR 2, was accepted for ARD. He was placed on probation for 9 months and his license was suspended for 3 months. He was charged with DUI Nov. 2 while driving on state forest land in Shippen Township.
