AUSTIN -- The Austin Area School Board of Education held a special meeting on July 31 to fill two vacancies after Michele Rodich, art teacher, and Jody Bailey, social studies teacher, both recently resigned.

The board approved hiring Bethany Brown as a full-time permanent professional Pre-K through 12th grade art teacher, upon recommendation from the personnel committee. 

The board also voted to hire Chad Rugh as a full-time permanent professional secondary social studies teacher.

Both positions include full benefits and will begin with the 2019-20 school year on Aug. 19.

The next regular Austin school board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 12 in the school library.
