Scary Movie Night at AHS

The Austin Area School Music Department will hold a scary movie night on Friday, Nov. 1 from 6-10 p.m. at the school. Elementary students are invited to watch Hocus Pocus and Hotel Transylvania 3 in the cafeteria. High school students are invited to watch Goosebumps and The Last Exorcism in the gymnasium. Refreshments will be available. Proceeds benefit the Austin Music Boosters Association.

Vendors needed for Christmas bazaar

The Austin Area School Class of 2020 will host the Annual Christmas Bazaar on Sunday, Dec. 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Cost to set up is $10 per table. There will be no refunds or cancellations. Vendors must bring their own table and set up begins at 8 a.m. A chance auction donation is required from each vendor. AVFD elections slated

Members of the Austin Fire and Ambulance Association are reminded the annual Election of Officers will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 13 with a special meeting to immediately follow. All members are permitted to vote in this year’s election.

Austin Borough reschedules November meeting

The regular meeting of the Austin Borough Council will be held on Monday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Borough Office. The public is invited to attend.

Fish fry Friday

Austin Community Pride Committee will hold a fish fry on Friday, Nov. 8 at the Austin Firehall. Serving begins at 3 p.m. Take outs are available by calling 814-647-5594. Dinner includes choice of baked or fried fish, baked potato or french fries, cole slaw or applesauce with dinner roll and choice of dessert for $11. Dessert donations are always appreciated.

Spaghetti dinner, open house set at AHS

Austin Area School’s fifth and sixth grades will hold its annual spaghetti dinner on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 4-6 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Open house will be held from 6-8 p.m.

Block shoot

Austin Costello Sportsmen’s Club will host a block shoot on Saturday, Nov. 2 and Sunday, Nov. 3 at the clubhouse. Sign-up begins at noon and the shoot beings promptly at 1 p.m.

Gun raffle tickets available

The Austin VFW Post 7810 is holding a Gun Raffle to Benefit Post 7810 and the Auxiliary. A Henry Survival Gun .22 Caliber will be raffled off on Saturday, Nov. 16 after the final Turkey Raffle. Tickets for the gun raffle are $5 each and can be purchased at the Austin Vets Club.

Tickets are not available for the fourth annual Gun Bash, scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Austin Firehall. The Gun Bash will run from 1-5 p.m. at the fire station. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are available for a donation of $20 and can be purchased from any department members. Participants must be 21 years of age or older to purchase a ticket. Your ticket will admit one and includes food and refreshments. There will also be side raffles and additional gun raffles at this event. Guns are being supplied by Perry’s Enterprise and you must pass a background check. Winners need not be present to win.
