Eli Ayers, senior, is this week’s Coudersport baseball player of the week, sponsored by E&G Auto Plus. Ayers is the son of Abby and Josh Ayers.
Ayers has been a starter at center field for four years and had an outstanding play in center field last week.
Coudersport faced Oswayo Valley, Bolivar-Richburg and St. Marys last week and Ayers started each game. At bat he went 3-10, with two doubles and four RBIs and had key hits against both Bolivar-Richburg and Oswayo Valley. During their game against Bolivar-Richburg, one of his RBIs tied the game.
On the field, Ayers was able to save a run during the Bolivar-Richburg game when a B-R player had a hit deep into center field. Ayers caught the ball and threw it to his cut-off just in time to tag out a runner heading to second base.
“Eli has been a four year starter, leader and role model for the Falcons,” head varsity coach Doug McClintic said. “This week he has had a strong performance at the plate as well as his outstanding play in center field, saving several runs.”
Come watch Ayers and the rest of the Falcon baseball team at their next game, 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22 at Galeton. Their next home game is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 26 against Wellsboro.
