Black Forest Falcons trap shoot team at Nationals

Following a strong showing at the PA Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) championships, the Black Forest Falcons Youth Trap Team sent 15 shooters to the National SCTP Championships at The Cardinal Center in Marengo, Ohio. The Falcons shot in the 200 Target Singles Trap Event during July 17 and 18.

The 15 shooters representing the Black Forest Falcons included Jack Cochran (Galeton), Nick McCarthy (Galeton), Hunter Crowell (Galeton), Drew Page (Coudersport), Chris Davis (Coudersport), AJ Torrey (Northern Potter), Ben Torrey (Northern Potter), Carter Thompson (Northern Potter), Mathew Fleniken (Coudersport), Otto Deutschlander (Coudersport), Owen Deutschlander (Coudersport), Logan Ruter (Coudersport), Kaylea Empson (Coudersport), Sophia Snowman (Coudersport) and Brady Streich (Coudersport).

While the Falcons did not make a podium finish, several Falcons made a big splash in their debut at Nationals. Chris Davis placed eighth nationally in the Mens — Senior/JV category with a two day total of 196 out of 200. He also placed 54th against 1532 shooters nationally. Hunter Crowell shot a 193 out of 200 and placed 27th in the same division and 179th against all national shooters. Jake Cochran and Drew Page also turned in strong performances with scores of 188 and 186 out of 200 respectively.

The top PA state JV Squad of Jake Cochran, Nick McCarthy, Hunter Crowell, Drew Page, and Chris Davis placed 9th nationally with a combined score of 912 out of 1000.

Tough competition at the national level also pushed several Falcons to shoot personal bests. Mathew Fleniken and Carter Thompson shot their first perfect rounds of 25 out of 25. Perfect rounds were also recorded by Chris Davis (5), Hunter Crowell (3), Jake Cochran (1), Drew Page (1), and Otto Deutschlander (1).

The Black Forest Falcons Youth Trap Team would like to thank all of the sponsors whose donations made their trip to Nationals possible.

Thanks also goes out to the Black Forest Conservation Association and all the volunteer coaches who helped prepare the Falcons for their trip to Nationals.
