Owen Chambers, senior, is this week’s Coudersport baseball player of the week, sponsored by E&G Auto, Plus. He is the son of Jenn and Mark Chambers.
Playing for four years, Chambers has been a career starter for the Falcons. He has been a lead-off hitter for the last two seasons and a solid defensive player. He has played shortstop, first and second base and made his debut on the mound as a relief pitcher this season.
Last week, the Falcons continued their hot hitting and solid defense, closing out the regular season with a win over Port Allegany, 11-1. Leading the offensive attack was Chambers going 4-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
“Owen has been an important part of Coudersport baseball for four years. Not only is he one of our strongest defensive players, he has been setting the table for our offense as the lead-off hitter this year,” head coach Doug McClintic said. “Owen showed his skills at the plate this week and displayed his ability to spark our offense.”
The Falcons are the No. 1 seed in the District 9 AA baseball playoffs. You can watch Owen and the rest of the Coudersport baseball team 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 23 at Berwind Park in St. Marys. Coudersport will face Johnsonburg (No. 4) in the semi-finals.
