COUDERSPORT — In the first round of the District 9 A softball playoffs, Coudersport (No. 4) lost to Dubois Central Catholic (No. 5) in five innings, 15-3.
Neither team scored in the first inning, but Dubois Central Catholic took a commanding lead in the scoreboard in the second. Between missed catches, overthrows and good batting, Dubois Central Catholic scored eight runs.
The third inning brought five more runs scored by Dubois Central Catholic when they seemingly had no trouble making contact with the ball.
Still scoreless in the bottom of the fourth, Coudersport was able to bring in three runs. In the fifth and final inning, Dubois Central Catholic added two more runs and Coudersport wasn’t able to catch up.
Torri Miller, Hope Daisley and Claudia Miller all scored a run for the Lady Falcons; Chelsey Streich had one RBI.
For the Lady Cardinals, Ashley Wruble (3 RBIs, 3 runs) hit a homer. Avery Sickeri (two RBIs, one double) also scored three runs in the win. Jordan Kosko (one RBI, one double), Maia Cogley and Shayleigh Gulvas (four RBIs, one double) all scored two runs each. Emma Suplizio, Carley Semancik and Shyanna Lundy each scored one run.
On the mound, Morgan Tyler earned the win for Dubois Central Catholic, pitching 4.2 innings, allowing three runs with five strikeouts.
Shaelyn Black took the loss. She pitched for five innings, allowed 15 runs on 11 hits. She had three strikeouts.
