A 33-year-old woman was nearly abducted in Allegany Township on Jan. 29, police documents indicate.

The unidentified accuser, of Coudersport, was traveling east on Rose Lake Road when she observed a red SUV stopped along the fence line in an roadway, police reported. The woman told police she attempted to make contact with the individual near the SUV, at which time a white male reached through the woman’s open car window and grabbed her, attempting to pull her through the window.

Police reported the woman hit the gas pedal and drove away before the unidentified male could do anything more. According to a Coudersport based Pennsylvania State Police report, the woman sustained minor injuries during the incident and provided descriptors of the unknown man to police. At this time, police do not believe there is any risk to public safety. The suspect reportedly left the scene in an unknown direction.

“The matter is still under investigation,” Potter County District Attorney Andy Watson told the Potter-Leader Enterprise. “We’re still looking for the suspect.”

Watson said the accuser’s account of the incident is also being investigated and that state police are looking into possible leads into the vehicle description.
