Tonya Lea Green, 37, of Galeton was charged with endangering the welfare of children following suspicious activity on West Main Street in Galeton on July 22. Police found a two-year-old child playing in a mud puddle in a parking lot distanced 10-15 yards away from the road. Police tried to approach the child, but the child headed for the playground in the area. Police observed an apartment door nearby to be opened. After picking up the child, police knocked on the opened door to confirm if the child lived in the apartment. Green met the officer at the door and reported that she was sleeping and that the child had gotten out. Potter county CYS was contacted to assess the child and after arriving, they created a 30 day child safety plan placing the children in custody of the grandmother. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 3.
