The Galeton Lady Tigers basketball team hit the hardwood on Monday, Dec. 16 as they traveled to Smethport for a tough matchup with the 2-3 Hubbers. The Lady Tigers struggled to get their offense going, and fell by a score of 36-22.
Galeton was able to keep things close in the first, with neither team able to gain an advantage and the score was knotted at eight apiece.
The second quarter, the Hubbers came up with a big quarter, and were able to outscore the Lady Tigers 13-6 to give them a big advantage in a low scoring contest going into the half up 21-14.
The second half saw Galeton come out flat, as they were only able to score one point in the third and Smethport extended their lead as they were able to score 11 in the period and brought the score to 32-15 with only one quarter left to play.
Galeton ended the game on a positive note, and outscored Smethport 7-4 in the final quarter, but still suffered a tough loss where they only were able to score 22 points.
Despite the loss, Jessie Evans continues her stellar senior season, and score 13 of the Lady Tigers 22 in the game. Alli Macensky also was able to score six points, had seven blocks and secured four rebounds in the loss.
Macensky has been a star for the Lady Tigers in the early going this season, and has not only scored just over eight points a game, but also has handled seven boards and has sent back just over four blocks a game this season.
The Lady Tigers will look to spark their offense as they travel to Port Allegany on Friday Dec. 20 to take on the 5-1 rival Lady Gators.
