George Morley was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his years of service at the Ulysses Senior Center on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Several members from the Ulysses Senior Center went to UPMC Cole Hospital’s skilled nursing floor to present Morley with a plaque for his more than 30 years of being a member of the senior center and for the past 16 years serving as president of the H.U.G. Club, which is the club of those who are from Harrison Valley, Ulysses or Genesee.
“He is a very special man,” Carol Brown, director of the senior center, said. “He has the sweetest personality. He is very giving and loving.”
Morley’s wife was also a member for more than 30 years; she and Morley now share a room together at the hospital.
Brown and other members of the senior center shared memories of Morley, saying he was the number one pan scrubber and were reminiscing of when he invited everyone to his camp, where they would play music and have a picnic.
“We love the man and we just wanted to recognize him,” Brown said. “He was so touched.”
