Northern Potter’s men came out like a house afire to start the game against the visiting Cameron County Red Raiders On Thursday, Jan. 16 evening, but the visitors fired up themselves by Dino Brown’s 16 third-quarter points charged back to come from a 16-12 first-quarter deficit, to take a 77-47 conference win.

Brown led all scorers with 29 points, with teammate Caden Beldin pouring in 23.

Grey Slawson led the Panthers with 13 points, while Carter Anderson scoring 11 points.

The Panthers fell to 7-8 overall, and 4-6 in conference play, while the red-hot Red Raiders upped their marks to 9-2, and 8-1, respectively.

“We did well for three and a half quarters,” commented NoPo head coach Derek Erway. “We couldn’t slow the Dino boy . . . “ Erway mentioned that Brown made two or three three-pointers in the third quarter; the scorebook credited him with four.

“We moved the ball well on offense,” Erway noted. “Unfortunately, we couldn’t make the shots late in the game.” Erway noted of Cameron County, “They’re a very solid team.”

Northern Potter’s next four games are Monday, Jan. 20 at Austin (7 p.m.); Wednesday, Jan. 22, hosting Otto-Eldred; at Smethport on Friday, Jan. 24, listed at 6 pm; and Monday, Jan., 27 at Bucktail, for a listed 7:30 p.m. start.
