North Country Voices and Second Chances will present a Christmas Choral Concert, The Joy of Christmas on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church on Route 49 in Coudersport.
A varied program of sacred, secular, and contemporary music of the season will be performed. The program will open with a choral medley Sing Joy! incorporating “Joy to the World”,” For Unto Us a Child Is Born” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful”. “Silent Night” arranged by the gifted contemporary composer Dan Forrest will feature a string quartet accompaniment. The beautiful original music by John Rutter “Candlelight Carol” and the extraordinary contemporary classic “His Light In Us” by Kim Andre Arnesen will highlight the concert. To add to the festive nature of the performance, the chorus will sing the ever popular “The Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth” and the program will close with the Christmas classic “And the Glory of the Lord”, a chorus from Messiah by George Frideric Handel. The audience will have an opportunity to join in the singing during the Christmas Carol sing along.
There will be a free will offering and light refreshments to follow the program. The public is cordially invited to attend and share in the joy of the Christmas season.
