The Coudersport girls golf team is looking to improve under the leadership of first year coach Tori Brown.
This is Brown’s first year coaching girls golf at Coudersport; she was an assistant coach for the Coudersport junior high girls basketball in 2015-16.
This year’s team has four members: senior Caitlyn Magarigal, sophomore Leighann Watson, and freshmen Emaly Dubots-Angood and Leah Larsen. Caitlyn and Leighann are the only returning players; the two freshmen are relatively new to the sport.
“Our biggest challenge will probably be getting everyone to improve, for such a young team as it is,” said Brown. “We have a lot of room to build as long as we can stay focused and are playing consistently through the off season.”
Brown, who played on the golf team while a student at Coudersport High School, said recruiting new players, particularly girls, is has become more challenging.
“I hope to swing something and start pulling in younger folks,” she said.
The season is short, with the District Championship set for Sept. 30.
“It will happen fast,” Brown said.
