Theft of motor vehicle

State police are investigating the theft of a motor vehicle from a 40-year-old Kane man on March 8 or March 29 from a location on Highland Road, Wetmore Township where it was parked. The 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck was moved to the opposite side of the property, where it was found stuck in the mud, police said. Criminal mischief

State police are investigating a case of criminal mischief that occurred March 25 or March 26 to private property in Eldred Township. Police said a stray bullet from an unknown shooter hit an electrical box attached to the residence on Eldred Road.

Police are investigating a case of criminal mischief that occurred March 24 to private property in Eldred Township. Police said someone damaged the roof and passenger side of the victims’ vehicle with an unknown tool, scratching it and dumping paint on the roof. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 814-368-9230. Damage was valued at $1,000.

Accidental shooting

Two juveniles were injured in an accidental shooting in Annin Township March 24 according to state police. According to police they were both transported to a hospital via medical helicopter. The incident is under investigation.

DUI on drugs

Two 18-year-old men from Pittsfield were arrested for drug charges following a traffic stop for a summary traffic violation March 20. The operator was found to be driving under the influence of drugs and the passenger was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. The incident is under investigation and charges are pending in district court.

Crashes

Roy A. Nickerson, III, 21, suffered a suspected minor injury in a one vehicle crash on North Brooklynside Road, Liberty Township on March 15. Nickerson was traveling west on West Mill Street in a 19987 Chevrolet S-10 pick-up truck when he attempted to make a left hand turn onto South Brooklynside Road. He lost control of the vehicle and hit a rock embankment, police said. The truck overturned onto the driver’s side. Both Nickerson and his passenger, Donald L. Parris, 23, of Port Allegany, were transported to Bradford Regional Medical Center via Port Allegany Ambulance for treatment of their injuries. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt. Nickerson was cited for careless driving.

Kermit D. Sherwood, 60, of Smethport, suffered a suspected minor injury in a two-vehicle crash on Route 219, Lafayette Township March 23. Sherwood was traveling north in a 2008 Chevrolet CK2500 when he failed to yield to a 2007 Toyota 4-Runner traveling south, operated by Kassandra A. Gilmore, 38, of Kane. The Chevy hit the Toyota in the intersection with State Route 59. Gilmore was not injured, but Sherwood was transported to Bradford Regional Medical Center via Bradford EMS ambulance for minor injuries. Sherwood was wearing a seat belt, but Gilmore was not. Sherwood was cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic.

James E. Green, 52, of Port Allegany, escaped injury in a two vehicle crash on Port-Turtlepoint Road, Liberty Township March 23. Green was traveling south in a 1998 Cadillac Eldorado on snow and slush covered roads, when he lost control of the vehicle, and traveled off the roadway. As he attempted to regain control, he was unable to do so due to his speed, and he again traveled off the road, hitting a parked 2019 Chevrolet Equinox that was unoccupied. Green was wearing a seat belt. he was cited for speeding.

A 75-year-old Hazelhurst man escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash on Route 6, Hamlin Township March 23. Police said the driver was traveling east when he lost control of the vehicle on the snow and slush covered road, and drove off the south side of the road into a ditch, causing disabling damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle. The driver was wearing a seat belt.

Burglary

A 52-year-old Kane man was the victim of burglary with residential force on March 23. According to police, someone attempted to enter the residence in Wetmore Township by breaking a window and kicking the front door. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 814-368-9230.

Harrassment

According to police, a 44 year-old Kane man was arrested for harassment with physical contact during a domestic incident in Hamilton Township March 28. The investigation is continuing.

Corruption of minors

State police are investigating a report of suspected corruption of minors in Eldred Township through a CY report March 6. The investigation is continuing.

Indecent assault

State police are investigating a report of a possible indecent assault in Keating Township, March 25. The investigation is continuing.

Overdose

State police responded to an overdose on East Pine Trail, Lafayette Township March 7. The subject was treated at the scene and transported via ambulance to UPMC Kane for treatment.
