A 39-year-old man awaits a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge William Todd, for strangling a teenaged accuser and assaulting one of the accuser’s parents, as well as endangering the welfare of two juveniles, court documents state.
According to court documents, Curtis Deitz, of Bradford, strangled a teenaged accuser on Jan. 5 and threw the accuser to the ground, after claiming the accuser was engaging in sexually inappropriate behavior with another juvenile. Documents indicate one of the juveniles’ parents intervened and threatened to call the police, to which Dietz responded by shoving the parent into a stand, breaking the stand and stiff arming the parent’s throat.
Another juvenile, who was present during the assault, corroborated the teenager’s and the parent’s accounts.
Police discovered Deitz was on probation for a 2019 DUI during the time of the incident, court documents state.
According to court documents, Deitz was charged with 10 counts, including felony charges of aggravated assault, strangulation and endangering the welfare of children. Deitz had a preliminary arraignment on Jan. 13, before Todd and was committed to McKean County Correctional Facility, unable to post the $50,000 bail set. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 29, court documents state.
