McKean County district attorney Stephanie Vettenburg- Shaffer reports that, on Nov. 27, 2019, detectives with the McKean County Drug Task Force arrested Obot “Sammy” Essien, of Bradford, for delivery of suspected powder cocaine on East Main Street within the city.
The detectives charged Essien with selling cocaine to a confidential informant while under surveillance by the Drug Task Force. Officers with the Bradford City Police then initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle operated by Essien and took him into custody.
Essien was charged with a felony count of possession with intent to delivery/delivery of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance and a felony count of criminal use of a communication facility. The McKean County Drug Task Force was assisted by Bradford City Police.
Essien was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge William Todd who set bail at $20,000. He was remanded to the McKean County Jail.
