PORT ALLEGANY — The Port Allegany School District has been awarded $30,000 in safe school funding for the current school year. The board is looking to use the funds towards cameras in the elementary school.

Bethany Mealy and Chad Saltsman, both teachers in the Port Allegany Elementary School, are now tenured. Elizabeth Valentine has been hired as a student-specific life skills aid. Her employment was in effect on Jan. 7.

Cassandra Howard will be the mentor for Kelly Wojewoda. Wojewoada is a newly hired elementary teacher in the district.

Major Thomas Kerek, an IU guest teacher, and Morgan Causer, support staff, have been added to the substitute list as of Dec. 11, 2019.

Anthony Edgell was approved to be a volunteer coach for the girls junior high basketball program during the 2019-20 school year. Karl Lightner was approved to be a volunteer coach for the wrestling program during the 2019-20 school year.Since January is school board recognition month, the board passed that they will adopt the PSBA board principles.
