The Port Allegany boys soccer team closed out the regular season with a 7-2 win at St. Marys on Oct. 16 to clinch the UAVSL North Division title outright, then dropped a 4-1 non-league game on the artificial turf at Bradford two nights later in a tuneup for the District 9 Class AA playoffs.
The Gators roared back from an early 2-0 deficit to swamp the Dutch, with Howie Stuckey netting four goals to give him 30 for the season. Ben Lawton, Aidan Emerick and AJ Edgell also scored and goalkeeper Ty Guilds made nine saves as Port (12-4) wrapped up its seventh division crown with a 7-1 league record, two full games ahead of runners-up Kane and Coudersport.
Simon Burleson scored the only Port goal against Bradford, his ninth on the season, as the Gators tested themselves against the large-school Owls to wrap up the regular season on Friday, Oct. 18.
