Crashes

Chad Smith, 44, of Setauket, N.Y., was traveling south on State Route 219 on Feb. 29 in a 2016 Mazda CX9 when he attempted to turn east on State Route 59 and subsequently struck a pole. Neither Smith nor his passenger, Christina Smith, 38, of East Setauket, N.Y., were injured and the vehicle was towed from the scene. The driver was cited for Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic. LaFayette Volunteer Fire Department and Donovan’s Towing assisted on scene.

Shania Eschrich, 24, of Johnsonburg, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu on State Route 321 in Corydon Township on Feb. 27 and was unable to stop at an intersection. The vehicle slid into a ditch on the opposite side of the intersection. Eschrich reported sustaining minor injuries, but was not transported to a medical facility and the driver was cited with Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed.

Justin Westerburg, 22, of Kane, was driving west in Hamlin Township, on SR-6 in, a 2007 Ford Ranger on Feb. 27 when he lost control and began to fish tail. The vehicle traveled across the double yellow line into the eastbound lane of travel, off of the roadway then struck a tree. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Flickerwood Towing, but Westerburg sustained no injuries. Westerburg was cited for Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic. Local fire/EMS assisted on scene.

Toby Miller, 53, of Shinglehouse was driving a 2011 GM Sierra west on McCrea Brook, on Feb. 23, when a deer ran into the roadway. Miller attempted to swerve and miss the deer, but lost control and struck a tree on the southern side of the roadway. Miller was located at his residence after the crash and reported on injuries. Melissa Himes, 55, of Hazel Hurst, was driving a 2004 Ford F-150XLT along SR-6 on Feb. 21 when she navigated a left-hand curve and lost control of the vehicle, due to icy road conditions. The vehicle crossed into the opposite lane of travel, then exited the eastbound shoulder and entered a snow-filled and ice-packed ditch. The front driver side tire dug into the snow/ice and caused the vehicle to rotate approximately 180 degrees to do a full roll-over, causing the vehicle to rest on its roof. Himes was transported by Mt Jewett Area Ambulance to an unknown facility and treated for injuries of an unknown severity.

Dean Cristiano, 52, of Bethel Park, was driving east on SR-59 in a 2011 Ford Explorer on Feb. 3 when he lost control of the vehicle and veered off the south side of the roadway, striking a PennDOT sign and utility pole. Airbags were deployed and the vehicle sustained disabling damage. Cristiano was uninjured and police determined Cristiano was Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Charges are pending results from a blood draw, taken at Bradford Regional Medical Center. Donovan’s Towing and LaFayette Fire Rescue assisted on scene.

DUI

A 48-year-old male, from Eldred, was observed operating a 2015 GM Sierra and committing several traffic violations on Feb. 27 on Larabee Road. Further investigation determined the man was Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.

Assault

A 35-year-old male and a 28-year-old female, each from Ludlow, were both the accusers and arrestees in a domestic altercation on Feb. 27, which resulted in bodily injury. Both individuals have been charged as result of the incident.

Death

PSP was notified by the McKean County 911 Center, on Feb. 26, of an unattended death in Norwich Township. A 73-year-old male, of Smethport, was discovered inside his Red Mill Road residence. PSP reported the cause of death as natural. Priority Care EMS, Norwich Township Volunteer Fire Department, McKean County Coroner’s Office and Hartle-Tarbox Funeral home assisted at the scene.

Runaway juvenile

Faith Miller, 17, of Bradford, was reported as a runaway juvenile on Feb. 25. An investigation determined the juvenile left work at the Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, in Olean, N.Y. at 10 p.m. on Feb. 25 and had not been heard from since that time. Miller is 5’ 2”, was last observed with brown hair and hazel eyes and was last reported to have been wearing nursing scrubs. Miller was last observed leaving her place of work in a green Pontiac sedan. Anyone with information regarding Miller’s location is asked to contact PSP-Lewis Run at 814-368-9230.

Drug/Drug Paraphernalia Possession

A 54-year-old male, of Bradford, was observed committing a summary traffic violation on Derrick Road and Beechwood Drive on Feb. 25. During a traffic stop, it was determined the individual was in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Criminal/Simple Trespass

A 58-year-old male, from Smethport, reported that a 73-year-old male, of Port Allegany, entered private property, marked with signage, on Champlin Hill Road on Feb. 21. Charges were filed before Magisterial District Judge William Todd.

Harassment

A 17-year-old female, of Bradford, reported a possible domestic violence incident on Feb. 20 between herself and her mother. The investigation is ongoing.

Indecent assault

Police were notified on Feb. 17 of alleged inappropriate touching between two sisters which occurred 11 to 12 years ago. The case is currently being investigated.

Police were notified of an alleged indecent assault which reportedly occurred between Jan. 31 and Feb. 2, in Mount Jewett Borough. The investigation continues.
