Chad A. Ginkel, 38, of Mt. Jewitt, suffered a suspected minor injury in a one-vehicle crash on Route 59, Lafayette Township Sept. 6. Ginkel was traveling west in a 2002 Jeep Cherokee when he swerved to miss a bear in the road. The car went off the right side of the road, hitting a ditch. The car traveled about 200 feet in the ditch before hitting an embankment, and rolled onto its roof. Ginkel was wearing his seat belt and reported minor injuries. The car was towed from the scene.
Dylan S. Baumgarner, 21, of Port Allegany, escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash on Open Brook Road, Liberty Township Sept. 8. Baumgarner was traveling north in a 2013 Subaru when he became distracted and drove off the roadway hitting the guide rail. The car then hit a tree and came to final rest, sustaining disabling damage. Baumgarner, who was wearing a seat belt, was cited for failing to drive on roadways laned for traffic.
A 45-year-old Bradford man was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants following a traffic stop on Derrick Road, Foster Township, Sept. 3. The driver was operating a 1999 Buick Riviera when police pulled him over for a traffic violation. Charges are pending blood alcohol test results.
A 53-year-old James City man was arrested for DUI following a traffic stop on Route 66, Wetmore Township Sept. 1. The driver was operating a 2015 Jeep. Charges are pending.
A 34-year-old Ludlow man and a 28-year-old Ludlow woman were arrested following a domestic incident on Water Street, Hamilton Township Sept. 2. When troopers arrived, the male party was placed under arrest and transported to the state police barracks and jailed in lieu of $20,000 when he was unable to post bail. Charges in district court are pending for both individuals.
Hit and Run
A firefighter conducting traffic control at the scene of a gas leak investigation on Blueberry Lane, Corydon Township Aug. 31 suffered a minor injury when he was struck by a passing vehicle that fled the scene. Donald L. Hazzard, 52, of Lewis Run, with the Lafayette Township Fire Department, was hit when the operator of the vehicle swerved at the firefighter who was attempting to slow him down, and hit Hazzard in the arm with his driver side mirror. The driver of the green pick-up truck with a green cap on the bed has not yet been located. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Lewis Run.
A 28-year-old Smethport woman and a 24-year-old Kane man were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on Clay Street, Kane, Aug. 30. Upon investigation, the driver of the 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix was found to be in possession of drugs and paraphernalia items and also suspected to be driving under the influence of drugs. Charges are pending blood test results.
Two people were arrested for drug possession following a traffic stop of a 2014 Hyndai on Route 291, Bradford Township Sept. 7. The 28-year-old female and 34-year-old male were stopped near the intersection with Owens Way, Bradford Township. The driver was suspected of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. The passenger was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The driver was transported to Bradford Regional Medical Center for a legal blood draw, and charges are pending blood test results. There was also a 13-year-old female of Kane in the vehicle with them.
Police are investigating a report of harassment on Forest Road, Liberty Township Sept. 6. A 43-year-old male of Port Allegany was arrested for harassment with threatening physical contact against two Port Allegany victims. Police said the victim’s 2005 Ford Escape was found to have been damaged with an ax. He also threatened to cut the vehicle in half with the victim inside the vehicle police said. Charges are pending through district court.
Police were dispatched to investigate a noise complaint on McCrea Brook Road, Eldred Township Sept. 4. Upon arrival, police found the unnamed person to be under the influence of a controlled substance, walking down the road, causing a disturbance. Charges have been filed in district court.
