A Slow Pitch Co-Ed Softball Tournament is being held on Saturday and Sunday, July 3 and 4, at the softball fields at the Meade Street Recreation Area (formerly known as the Wellsboro Area Softball Association fields) on Meade Street in Wellsboro.

The first through third place teams will receive a cash prize. The amount is based on the number of teams playing in the tournament.

The fee is $150 per team. By next Wednesday, June 30, a check for $150 and the names of team members have to be submitted to either Adult Co-Ed Softball League Coordinator Vicki Young or to Mona O’Conner at the Wellsboro Parks and Recreation Office at 227 Nichols Street in Wellsboro. The number of teams in this tournament is limited to 20.

Said Young, “Play is in a slow pitch format. Slow pitch is when the pitched ball has an arc between 6 and 16 feet. Anyone 17 and over can play in the tournament. There can be an unlimited number of players per team but there must be three girls and seven guys on the field at a time. If a team doesn’t have three girls that team will be penalized an out when the missing girl(s) should be in the line-up.”

During the tournament there will be chicken halves for sale and a bake sale.

For more information or to register, contact Vicki Young at (570) 724-5161 or (570) 439-4116 or Wellsboro Parks and Recreation at (570) 724-0300.
