Cathryn Brought led an extremely young Wellsboro Lady Hornets team to an appearance in the District playoffs in her senior season including a late season surge that saw the Lady Hornets win five of their final seven games of the regular season.
“It is an honor to be chosen as player of the year,” Brought said. “In our area, there is a lot of talent in high school girls’ basketball. I am very thankful to be chosen from among them. I love the game of basketball and I try to give my best, so this recognition means a lot to me.”
Brought’s excellent work ethic is exhibited in every sport she competes in and the Lycoming girls basketball team is extremely lucky to not only get a player who is as talented as Brought, but one who is a leader on and off the floor who continues to work to improve.
“I’m just going to work all summer,” Brought said. “I’ve been getting some workouts from Lycoming already that I’ve been doing. So I’m just going to continue to hit the weight room and hit the gym as much as possible given our circumstances.”
“All the coaches that I’ve had previously have prepared me for this and just all the teammates and every single team I’ve been on has as well,” Brought said.
