Chancey Lee Decoursey, 35, of Wellsboro was charged wit theft, receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of automobiles following police response to a reported stolen vehicle in Charleston Township Dec. 16. While on scene with the victim police reportedly discussed another incident from the day before where an UTV was observed dragging a large box. When police conducted a search of the near the victim’s residence, they observed a UTV. Upon further investigation the UTV was found to belong to an individual from Langhorne. While still conducting the investigation, police were dispatched to an accident. At the scene police determined that a trailer which had jackknifed while hauling an excavator, were stolen. The driver had fled the scene. While on the scene of the accident police received a report that the victim’s vehicle was returned but damaged. Video surveillance of the property from where the excavator was stolen showed the victim’s vehicle pulling into the lot. Several minutes after the excavator was reported stolen the accident occurred. Decoursey was placed under arrest and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 21.
